Dr. Muqaddas Sarwar, PhD (she/her/hers) is a licensed psychologist who specializes in working with adults, adolescents, and couples.

Dr. Sarwar is passionate about empowering clients to achieve their best selves through therapy. She prides herself on having a collaborative, respectful, and non-judgmental relationship with clients while focusing on her client’s goals. She places an emphasis on using empirically-supported treatments, while also considering the client’s individual identities, relationships, culture, and values.

Dr. Sarwar believes that everyone has the potential for growth and change but acknowledges that sometimes your environment may not be conducive to that growth. Therapy with her involves setting realistic goals, identifying personal strengths, exploring potential barriers, and working together to identify patterns of behavior that may contribute to mental health difficulties. She has extensive experience in treating adults with marginalized identities and hopes to help break stigma about seeking mental health treatment, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religious identity.

Dr. Sarwar was born and raised in Houston, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Houston’s Honor’s College. She earned her Master’s degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Her clinical experiences include working in multiple community mental health centers, outpatient hospitals, inpatient psychiatric units, and integrated primary healthcare settings. She completed her APA-accredited clinical internship at the Michael E. Debakey VA, where she provided individual and group therapy to a variety of diverse clients.
