Born and raised in Mexico City, Frida de Luna (she/her) is a student therapist and graduate student in Clinical Psychology at University of Houston Clear Lake (UHCL). She specializes in working with adolescents, adults and relationships.
Frida strives to understand and learn about the factors and experiences that have led to a client’s current difficulties. Her therapeutic work is marked by warmth, respect, and compassion. She seeks to help individuals and couples find greater clarity, confidence and connection, with the goal of helping clients live a more valued life with decreased stress and anxiety.
Frida strives to approach therapy through the lens of intersectionality. Intersectionality allows us to see how different people experience the world. Frida believes understanding the particular difficulties marginalized communities face requires examining the effects of race, ethnicity, migration history, English language ability, education, gender, and stigma. Therefore, intersectionality acknowledges that these disparities may combine to create a unique set of barriers for that person.
Frida has previously worked as a therapist at UHCL’s Psychological Services Clinic. In addition to her studies, Frida is involved in research. Her research is centered on personal health and relationship well-being. Specifically, she explores diverse relationship structures and dynamics (e.g. consensual non-monogamy, polyamory).
