Amanda Vega, MS (she/her), is a Texan born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, where her passion for supporting underserved and marginalized communities first began. She believes therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process and works collaboratively with clients to create an approach tailored to their unique experiences, identities, and goals. Amanda strives to provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and supportive space where clients can feel genuinely heard and seen as they move toward healing, growth, self-discovery, and empowerment.
Amanda considers herself a generalist who enjoys working with the many complexities of the human experience. She has specialized experience working with college students, first-generation students, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, BIPOC communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and complex trauma. She understands that seeking support can feel vulnerable and aims to help clients build insight, resilience, self-compassion, and meaningful change at their own pace.
She is currently completing her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Our Lady of the Lake University, with an expected graduation date of August 2026. Amanda earned her master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio and her bachelor’s degree, double-majoring in English and psychology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, as a first-generation college graduate.
Amanda is licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and National Certified Counselor (NCC). Throughout her training and professional career, she has worked across a variety of settings, including university counseling centers, private practice, primary care, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and community mental health. She also has experience administering psychological assessments with adolescents and adults.
